The Reagan Rattlers came tearing into Wednesday's match with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.1 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Churchill 68-39 at home. Given Reagan's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while Churchill is ranked 422nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Aidan Richard continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last 13 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenneth Manuel, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Reagan is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-10 record this season. As for Churchill, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-17.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Reagan will square off against SA Roosevelt at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The timing isn't great for SA Roosevelt: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Reagan has snatched up 18 consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season. As for Churchill, they will take on Marshall at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Churchill is facing Marshall at the right time seeing as Marshall is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
