The Treutlen Vikings had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They skirted past Hawkinsville 60-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Hawkinsville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryson Singletary, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Singletary has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Martin Mcdonald, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Treutlen's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Hawkinsville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Treutlen's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Wilcox County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 360th, while the Vikings are ranked 170th). As for Hawkinsville, they will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
