He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Spence was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Union City got a massive performance out of Jayson Connor, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Owen Dowler was another key contributor, going 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Having lost for the first time this season, Wes-Del fell to 3-1. As for Union City, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Wes-Del will head out on the road to face off against Daleville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Daleville is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season. As for Union City, they are on the road again on Thursday to play Union County at 5:30 p.m.
