After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Marengo, Sandwich was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Plano Reapers by a score of 10-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.
Jillian Freemon was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abigail Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Audryna Brain, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Sandwich was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Plano only posted a batting average of .053.
With the victory, Sandwich broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-8. As for Plano, they dropped their record down to 5-14 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.
