Shane Gisler was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Zack Cavallo, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
Northern Cambria always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .609. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
West Branch never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Bucktail on Thursday. They blew past the Bucks 13-4.
Coby Kephart and Kaleb Warren-Kio did most of the damage at the plate: Kephart went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Warren-Kio went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Kephart has become a key player for West Branch: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Logan Liptak was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
West Branch has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Northern Cambria, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Northern Cambria hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .367. However, it's not like West Branch struggles in that department as they've averaged .352. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
