The Lake Placid Dragons will head out to take on the LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lake Placid is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Lake Placid and Hardee had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Lake Placid came out on top against Hardee on Monday by a score of 12-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Dragons considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Jillian Garduno and Kaylee Grigsby made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Garduno didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Meanwhile, Grigsby pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That one hit allowed gave her a new career-low. At bat, Garduno scored three runs while going 3-for-3, while Grigsby scored a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, Garduno posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Natalie Velozo and Tara Person did most of the damage at the plate: Velozo got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Person went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Person a new career-high. Emily Tharp was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Lake Placid hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, LaBelle had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They skirted past Avon Park 4-2.
Abby Hicks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, LaBelle saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nevaeh Crumb, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double was Crumb's first of the season.
LaBelle picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 4-7. As for Lake Placid, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-7.
Lake Placid took their win against LaBelle in their previous meeting back in February by a conclusive 13-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lake Placid since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
