Despite the defeat, Kit Carson saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Avery Johnson went 9 of 13 on her way to 22 points along with five boards and four steals. That's the most points Johnson has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Allyssa Gekeler, who went 5 for 7 en route to 12 points and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stratton). They strolled past Fleming with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 54-39. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.
Stratton's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Kit Carson, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
