Moon Valley hasn't had much luck against Thunderbird recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The two teams, after both having extra time off, will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field at 6:30 p.m. Moon Valley has given up an average of 14.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Moon Valley fell victim to Cactus and their airtight pitching crew last Tuesday. They came up short against the Cobras, falling 14-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Rockets were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile, Thunderbird beat Mesquite 11-7 last Thursday.
Alicia Flores made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Flores was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Addison Richards was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Brianna Nystuen was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Thunderbird kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2025.
Moon Valley's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Thunderbird, their record now sits at 5-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Moon Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Thunderbird struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Moon Valley might still be hurting after the 25-3 defeat they got from Thunderbird in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Can the Rockets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
