Basketball Game Preview: Corinth Riverhawks vs. Warrensburg Burgers

Corinth and Warrensburg are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Corinth Riverhawks will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Warrensburg Burgers at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Corinth is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Fort Ann: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Corinth blew Fort Ann out of the water with a 49-15 final score. The Riverhawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 25 points or more this season.

Corinth got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Whitney Cameron out in front who posted six points in addition to five boards and five steals. Cameron has been hot recently, having posted five or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Caitlyn Crossman, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards.

Corinth smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Warrensburg earned a 54-46 win over Hartford Central on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Burgers.

Warrensburg pushed their record up to 5-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Corinth, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Everything came up roses for Corinth against Warrensburg in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 54-27 victory. Does Corinth have another victory up their sleeve, or will Warrensburg turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
