Basketball Recap: Genoa Christian Academy Takes a Loss

If Genoa Christian Academy was riding high fresh off their 58-26 takedown of Northside Christian last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Genoa Christian Academy had to suffer through a 63-29 loss at the hands of the Hamilton Township Rangers. The contest marked Genoa Christian Academy's lowest-scoring match so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Genoa Christian Academy lost on Thursday, don't look at Gabbie Kirwin. Despite the final result, she posted nine points along with seven rebounds and five blocks. The dominant performance gave Kirwin a new career-high in blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Schuck, who earned eight points and 11 boards.

Hamilton Township's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alexis Wooten led the charge by going 7 for 15 en route to 19 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. Juliana McLaughlin also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Genoa Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Hamilton Township, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Genoa Christian Academy and Hamilton Township should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Genoa Christian Academy (ranked 240th) will meet Marion-Franklin (ranked 767th) at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Hamilton Township will square off against Licking Heights at 7:15 p.m. on Monday up 268 places (233 vs. 501).
