It was a good run, but the Heartland Christian Saints unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Suburban Christian by a score of 43-41. Heartland Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Heartland Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Clemens, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Clemens has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Penticuff, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Heartland Christian's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-7. As for Suburban Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.
Heartland Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Laurel has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 271 points over their last four games. As for Suburban Christian, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Cougar at 6:30 p.m. on February 9th.
