Baseball Game Preview: Malcolm Clippers vs. Adams Central Patriots

The Malcolm Clippers will face off against the Adams Central Patriots at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Malcolm is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.

Malcolm is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Wayne 2-1. That's two games straight that the Clippers have won by just one run.

Mason Wisnieski made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Wisnieski wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cole Tiedeman, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Tiedeman is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Malcolm hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, while Adams Central put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Wayne. The Patriots narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Blue Devils 1-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Not much got past Hunter Nepple, who gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Wayne off the board.

Adams Central's win bumped their record up to 24-7. As for Malcolm, their victory bumped their record up to 26-2.

Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Malcolm hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .361. However, it's not like Adams Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .339. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
