Even though the Wooster Generals scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, the Mansfield Senior Tygers still came out on top. Mansfield Senior blew past Wooster 83-56 on the road. Given Mansfield Senior's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Wooster is ranked 448th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Wooster lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brady Bowen. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Anthony Carmean, who scored 17 points.
Mansfield Senior's win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Wooster, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mansfield Senior won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Shelby at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th. Shelby has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 864 points over their last 12 matches. As for Wooster, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Ashland at 7:30 p.m.
