The Brunswick Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their ninth straight loss. They took a 67-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Evans. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Pirates players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Caleb Butler, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Nasir Poole was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Evans to victory, but perhaps none more so than Taj Ford, who scored 20 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brice Wallace, who scored 23 points.
Brunswick has not been sharp recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Evans, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
Brunswick and South Effingham will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. South Effingham is on a six-game streak of home losses, Brunswick a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Evans will take on Grovetown at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Grovetown has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 494 points over their last eight matches.
