Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Southside Seahawks, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They suffered a rough 34-14 defeat at the hands of Bertie on Friday. Southside's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Among those leading the charge was Jeremiah Benthall, who threw for 273 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes, and also punched in two rushing scores.
Southside's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Bertie, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season.
Southside does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Bertie will head out on the road to face off against North Moore at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. North Moore is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
