Softball Game Preview: McClintock Chargers vs. Fairfax Stampede

For the second straight game, McClintock will face off against Fairfax. The Chargers will welcome the Stampede at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. McClintock is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11 runs per game this season.

McClintock made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Fairfax, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Chargers were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Stampede on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Chargers have beaten the Stampede on their field since April 6, 2023.

RyenHope Cozakos made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She also allowed four hits, marking her first of the season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, McClintock got a massive performance out of Nora Fincher, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Tori Famoso, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and five RBI.

McClintock always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairfax only posted an OBP of .261.

The victory made it two in a row for McClintock and bumps their season record up to 7-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Fairfax, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-4.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. McClintock hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Fairfax struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 home runs.
