After a string of four wins, the Anthem Prep Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 60-48 to North Valley Christian Academy. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Anthem Prep has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Anthem Prep saw an underclassman step up: Cole Schirm scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that Schirm scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Brandt Schirm, who scored ten points.
North Valley Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zathan Ruffin out in front who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Ruffin scored 15 or more points. Zac Ruelas was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Anthem Prep's loss dropped their record down to 4-1. As for North Valley Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Anthem Prep will be playing in front of their home fans against Lincoln Prep at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. As for North Valley Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Desert Heights Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Desert Heights Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Thursday.
