After flying high against the Ravenna Ravens last Tuesday, the Springfield Spartans came back down to earth. Springfield was outmatched by the Rockets at home and fell 62-27. While losing is never fun, Springfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 548th, while the Rockets are ranked 135th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Streetsboro to victory, but perhaps none more so than Naomi Benson, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Benson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 14 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Abbuhl, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Streetsboro, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which somehow isn't as good as their 13-4 record this season.
Springfield will head out on the road to square off against the Black Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Cuyahoga Falls has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 6. As for Streetsboro, they will be playing at home against the Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Chagrin Falls is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.3 points per game this season.
