Volleyball Recap: Southside Takes a Loss

Southside extended their losing streak to 15 on Friday, dropping them down to 3-22. They lost 3-0 to the South San Antonio Bobcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 two weeks ago.

Defeat or not, Southside got some senior leadership from Gabriella Galindo and Justinne Padilla. Galindo had 14 assists and nine digs, while Padilla had 14 digs. Galindo is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in each of the last four games she's played.

As for South San Antonio, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 13-14. They not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since August 26th (when they won 3-0).

South San Antonio's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isabela Sanford, who had seven digs and two aces. That's the most aces Sanford has posted over her last three matchups. Another player making a difference was Leylani Diaz, who had 11 digs and four aces.

Coincidentally, Southside and South San Antonio will both be playing MacArthur the next time they take the court. The Cardinals will host the Brahmas at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Bobcats will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
