Odem (Texas) didn't let up as Saturday's game came to a close, scoring 13 in the fourth quarter to seal a 34-7 victory over
Falfurrias (Texas).
After taking the lead on a
Zach Candela touchdown run in the first quarter, the Owls led 21-0 at the half.
Odem saw its 21-point halftime lead fall to 14 entering the fourth.
Jake Ray and
Hunter Rodriguez ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Bulls. Ray scored two touchdowns on the ground and Rodriguez added two as well.
Falfurrias' lone touchdown came on a 25-yard run in the third quarter.
FHS came in giving up 8.8 points per game this season. The Bulls struggled against OHS's offense, which entered the game scoring 26.5 points per game. The Owls entered the contest giving up 22.3 points per game this year.
When the two teams played each other last season, Odem came away with a 55-12 victory.
The loss comes after Falfurrias defeated Bishop 49-0 last week. The victory was a step in the right direction for OHS, which was coming off a 26-21 defeat at the hands of Aransas Pass in its previous game.
Odem (4-3) will play a 2A-1 Region IV District 16 game against San Diego next week, while Falfurrias (5-2) will take on Santa Rosa also in a 2A-1 Region IV District 16 game.
