Basketball Game Preview: North Davidson Black Knights vs. Central Davidson Spartans

North Davidson and Central Davidson are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The North Davidson Black Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Central Davidson Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Thursday, North Davidson came up short against Oak Grove and fell 73-60. While losing is never fun, the Black Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 366th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 149th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Drew Hege, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 16 points. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Forrest, who made all 5 shots he took to post 13 points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Central Davidson, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against Asheboro by a score of 58-46 on Thursday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Spartans as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Central Davidson's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for North Davidson, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.

North Davidson came up short against Central Davidson in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 68-60. Can North Davidson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
