The Somerville Highlanders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 42-23 bruising from Revere. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Somerville in their matchups with Revere: they've now lost four in a row.
Revere got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Haley Belloise out in front who scored 15 points along with three steals. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Belma Velic, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Somerville bumped their record down to 0-2 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.1 points per game. As for Revere, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Somerville will challenge Chelsea at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Revere, they will head out on the road to face off against Lynn Classical at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lynn Classical and Revere are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
