The Tygarts Valley Bulldogs's four-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 56-39 win over East Hardy. The victory was just what Tygarts Valley needed coming off of a 67-36 loss in their prior match.
Tygarts Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sarah Defibaugh out in front who shot 4-for-5 from deep and dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailen Yokum, who scored 18 points along with six steals.
Chloe Miller and Brooklynn Tinnell certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Miller dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds, while Tinnell scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Tinnell scored a full 43.6% of East Hardy's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
The win got Tygarts Valley back to even at 1-1. As for East Hardy, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-3.
Tygarts Valley will be playing at home against Clay-Battelle at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. East Hardy is on the road again on Friday and play against Tucker County at 6:00 p.m. on December 8th. Tucker County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than East Hardy in West Virginia (Tucker County is ranked 16th, while East Hardy is ranked 81st).
