Atlantic City is 0-8 against Wildwood Catholic since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Atlantic City Vikings will head out on the road to take on the Wildwood Catholic Crusaders at 5:30 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Atlantic City didn't have too much trouble with Ocean City at home as they won 56-39. That 17 points margin sets a new team best for Atlantic City this season.
Atlantic City found their leader in underclassman Taison Parker, who scored 22 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Parker has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Marigliano, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Wildwood Catholic came tearing into Thursday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Freire Charter with points to spare, taking the game 55-38. Given Wildwood Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 20th in New Jersey, while Freire Charter is ranked 288th in Pennsylvania), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Atlantic City's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-9. As for Wildwood Catholic, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-1.
Atlantic City was dealt a bruising 60-25 defeat at the hands of Wildwood Catholic when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Atlantic City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
