The Jasper County Hurricanes posted their closest win yet this season on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 43-41 victory over Pike County. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Jasper County.
Several Pirates players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maliyah Holmes, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Holmes is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played. Sadie Lewis was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Jasper County's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Pike County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-5.
Jasper County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Warren County at 6:00 p.m. on January 20th. Pike County won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Upson-Lee at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Upson-Lee is ranked 310th, while Pike County is ranked 308th).
