Avon Park took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. Everything went their way against the DeSoto County Bulldogs as the Avon Park Red Devils made off with a 14-5 win. The Red Devils have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.
Paisley Macias made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). In other batting news, Janely Ayala was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Skylar Hicks was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-5.
Looking ahead, Avon Park will head out on the road to face off against Davenport at 7:30 p.m. on February 18th. As for DeSoto County, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-10 victory against Hardee on the 11th.
