Atascocita is 8-2 against North Shore since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Atascocita Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the North Shore Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. Atascocita is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Atascocita faced another nationally ranked opponent in their previous game: Kingwood, who was ranked 38th at the time (Atascocita was ranked 28th). Atascocita took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kingwood on Friday. The Eagles were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the four contests prior), but the Mustangs' pitchers proved too tough.
Atascocita saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Allison Burkhalter, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Shore). They were the clear victor by a 17-2 margin over Channelview on Friday.
Jada Duncan was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Evelyn Rosas Guillen, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
North Shore always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .808. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Atascocita's defeat ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for North Shore, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Atascocita hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .369. However, it's not like North Shore struggles in that department as they've averaged .317. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Atascocita's way against North Shore in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Atascocita made off with a 6-0 victory. Will Atascocita repeat their success, or does North Shore have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
