Softball Recap: Ironwood Ridge Extends Winning Streak to Four

Ironwood Ridge waltzed into their match on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Walden Grove Red Wolves 12-2. The Nighthawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Hailei Barney, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Evangeline Quezada was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Ironwood Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Walden Grove only posted a batting average of .238.

Ironwood Ridge pushed their record up to 15-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Walden Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9.

Ironwood Ridge will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Red Wolves: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
