Service (Anchorage, Alaska) took the lead for good when
Viliamu Aukusitino ran for a touchdown with 5:00 to go in the third quarter and held on to upset
South (Anchorage, Alaska) 21-14 on Saturday.
The score was knotted at 14 heading into the half. The Cougars took the lead for good on a touchdown run by Aukusitino in the third quarter.
The loss came as a surprise for the Wolverines, which entered the game ranked No. 1 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Alaska, while Service was ranked No. 2. South came into the game having won three of the past eight games between the two teams.
The Cougars' most effective player was Aukusitino. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 13 touchdowns on the season.
The Wolverines'
Zachary Lujan was the standout player for his team. The senior quarterback ran for one touchdown. He has now scored two touchdowns on the season.
Service came into the game allowing 12.6 points per game. The 14 points that South ended with were well below its average of 31.6 coming into the game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 37-23 win for the Cougars.
In a Cook Inlet game next week Service (5-1) takes on Dimond, and South (4-2) will go up against West also in a Cook Inlet game.
