The Clayton Comets will head out on the road to take on the Corinth Holders Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clayton will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Clayton had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Southeast Raleigh on Friday. Clayton was the clear victor by an 18-2 margin over Southeast Raleigh. Considering the Comets have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Mollie Smithson was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Smithson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Clayton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southeast Raleigh only posted an OBP of .400.
Meanwhile, Corinth Holders entered their contest against Cleveland on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Corinth Holders lost 11-2 to Cleveland. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Pirates couldn't push the score so high this time.
Ava Marks and Liana Giron stepped up to the plate in a big way. Marks went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI, while Giron went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Corinth Holders' defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Clayton, their record is now 7-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Clayton has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Corinth Holders struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Clayton suffered a grim 11-4 defeat to Corinth Holders when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can Clayton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
