After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Noblesville, the Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They came out on top against Culver Academies by a score of 43-36. Given Guerin Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Eagles are ranked 198th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Robert Sorensen was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Cardinal, who scored 11 points.
Guerin Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Culver Academies, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.
Guerin Catholic will be playing in front of their home fans against the Dragons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully New Palestine focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Saturday. As for Culver Academies, they will head out on the road to take on the Lions on Tuesday. Victory Christian Academy will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
