Vista Murrieta is 8-2 against Great Oak since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Broncos will challenge the Wolfpack at 3:30 p.m. Vista Murrieta will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
On Friday, Vista Murrieta had just enough and edged out Temecula Valley 10-9.

On the hitting side, Vista Murrieta let RJ Holmes and Derrick Kraus run wild. Holmes went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one double, while Kraus went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave Kraus a new career-high. Taytum Reeves also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Vista Murrieta kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Great Oak hadn't beaten Murrieta Valley on the road since April 14, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Wolfpack blew past the Nighthawks 11-1. The game marked the Wolfpack's most dominant victory of the season.
Roy Kim looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Great Oak is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-9 otherwise.
At the plate, Great Oak's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Reagan Ricken, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Jaxon Valenzuela was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Great Oak's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-10. As for Vista Murrieta, their record is now 10-5-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Vista Murrieta has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Great Oak struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Vista Murrieta's way against Great Oak when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Vista Murrieta made off with a 12-2 win. Will the Broncos repeat their success, or do the Wolfpack have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
