The Oak Park Eagles''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Newbury Park, falling 38-0. While losing is never fun, Oak Park can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 421st, while Newbury Park is ranked 133rd).
Newbury Park got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brady Smigiel out in front who threw for 267 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt. Landon Bell was another key contributor, picking up 106 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Oak Park's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Newbury Park, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oak Park will take on Royal at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Royal comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Newbury Park, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Camarillo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
