In what's become a running theme this season, the South Pasadena Tigers gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They blew past Temple City 79-52 at home. Given South Pasadena's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Temple City is ranked 805th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South Pasadena's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jacob Arias, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Arias scored 15 or more points. Sebastian Martinez was another key contributor, scoring five points along with ten assists and five rebounds.
Dylan Lam and Mason Collins certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Lam scored ten points, while Collins scored eight points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that Collins pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hayden Hui, who scored seven points.
South Pasadena is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for Temple City, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-15.
South Pasadena won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against South Hills at 10:00 a.m. on January 27th. As for Temple City, they will be playing at home against San Marino at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. San Marino knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Temple City likes a good challenge.
