The Onalaska Wildcats lost against the New Waverly Bulldogs back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Onalaska took a 53-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of New Waverly. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Onalaska in their matchups with New Waverly: they've now lost five in a row.
Mary Joy Cariaga and Shaylan Linear certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Cariaga scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and five assists, while Linear scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Faith Tyerman, who scored nine points.
Onalaska's loss dropped their record down to 15-12. As for New Waverly, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-6.
Onalaska will challenge Anderson-Shiro at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Anderson-Shiro has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for New Waverly, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Tarkington at 6:00 p.m. Tarkington is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
