The ALA - Gilbert North Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Eastmark Firebirds at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. ALA - Gilbert North has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with 26 straight defeats, while Eastmark will come in with four straight wins.
ALA - Gilbert North managed to slip by Douglas the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Eagles lost 11-4 to the Bulldogs on Friday.
Makenzi Ravelo was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Londyn Webster also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Eastmark got the win against ALA - Queen Creek on Wednesday by a conclusive 12-2. The Firebirds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.
Andrea Fletcher made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Bella Gomez was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Addie Rice was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Eastmark pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for ALA - Gilbert North, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.
ALA - Gilbert North might still be hurting after the 19-3 defeat they got from Eastmark when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
