The Denby Tars will head out on the road to face off against the De La Salle Collegiate Pilots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Denby is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
Denby was not the first on the board last Friday, but they got there more often. They won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Central 29-28.
Denby's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB 5.5 times. The heavy lifting was done by Kenneth Mcclinton and Keshawn King who racked up 4.5 sacks between them.
Meanwhile, De La Salle Collegiate had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They breezed by St. John's Jesuit at home to the tune of 35-3. With De La Salle Collegiate ahead 28-3 at the half, the match was all but over already.
De La Salle Collegiate's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Sante Gasperoni, who rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown, and Isaac Gattine, who rushed for 73 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.
Their wins bumped Denby to 8-0 and De La Salle Collegiate to 6-2.
