The Ovid-Elsie Marauders''s homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Lansing Catholic Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Ovid-Elsie's game was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against Ida by a score of 14-3.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ovid-Elsie to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tryce Tokar, who rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 88 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Lansing Catholic had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They slipped by Michigan Center 35-34 on Friday. The victory was just what Lansing Catholic needed coming off of a 41-6 loss in their prior game.
Alex Fernandez went supernova for Lansing Catholic, rushing for 177 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 184 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Gulock, who picked up 91 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Ovid-Elsie's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Lansing Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Ovid-Elsie has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 159.6 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Lansing Catholic, though, as they've been averaging only 80.2 per game. How will Lansing Catholic fare against such a dominant running game?
