The Granbury Pirates''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 34-18 bruising from Ellison. Granbury lost against Ellison in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 27-9 score last time.
Granbury's loss came despite strong showings from Jadon Rogers and Tyler Rodgers. Rogers rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown, while Rodgers gained 86 total yards and a touchdown.
Ellison was led to victory by Daryl Cannie jr and Xavier Dormeus. Cannie jr gained 133 total yards and a touchdown, while Dormeus threw for 155 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. Cannie jr was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 65 yards.
Granbury's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.0 points per game. As for Ellison, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-6.
Granbury will take on Red Oak at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Red Oak will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. As for Ellison, they will head out on the road to face off against Midlothian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Midlothian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 261 points over their last six matchups.
