After both having extra time off, the Ocean Springs Greyhounds and the Baker Hornets will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 5:30 p.m. on December 28th. Ocean Springs is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
Ocean Springs' 14-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They had to suffer through a rough 56-21 loss at the hands of Biloxi. While losing is never fun, Ocean Springs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while Biloxi is ranked 14th).
Meanwhile, Baker took a serious blow against Blount last Saturday, falling 65-31. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Baker in their matchups with Blount: they've now lost three in a row.
Ocean Springs' loss was their seventh straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.6 points per game. As for Baker, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
