Basketball Recap: Pike Central Comes Up Short

Pike Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Mitchell Bluejackets and fell 75-47. One positive for the Chargers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Pike Central lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jiles Mason, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Mason is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Eli Keeker, who posted nine points.

Even though they lost, Pike Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

Pike Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Mitchell, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Pike Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 46-42 victory against Shoals on the 27th. As for Mitchell, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 78-62 win against Franklin County on the 27th.
