AA recap Sept. 26, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Westfield, who took down 149th ranked Westfield, 26-15.
East Longmeadow was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in AA. The Spartans beat West Springfield 42-22 earlier in the week.
Central's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Cody Williams threw for 214 and two touchdowns and Travis Cusson had 141 yards receiving. On the ground Aaron Owens chipped in 117 yards. Tejano Smith helped Central's passing attack out by catching one ball for 35 yards.
Central's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Golden Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Williams has thrown for 485 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Cusson has 14 catches for 248 yards. Owens leads the league in rushing with 209 yards.
Minnechaug Regional moved up to 81 from 116 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Falcons climbed the ranks as a result of a 27-26 win over Chicopee.
