Tishomingo County extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 13-10. They blew past the South Pontotoc Cougars 12-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-0 on Tuesday.
Jevan McDuffy made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Tishomingo County is 5-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 8-9 otherwise. McDuffy was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooks Marlar, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Beau Crum was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs.
Tishomingo County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
As for South Pontotoc, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly eight runs.
On South Pontotoc's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Stuto, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Tishomingo County has already played their next contest, a 7-4 defeat against Belmont on the 13th. As for South Pontotoc, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-1 victory against Vardaman on the 13th.
