The Poplarville Hornets will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Picayune Maroon Tide at 6:00 p.m. on December 1st. Poplarville's defense has only allowed 29.2 points per game this season, so Picayune's offense will have their work cut out for Picayune.
On Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Poplarville beat Pearl River Central 41-36.
Among those leading the charge was Janiyah Jones, who scored 14 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Poplarville's points. Another player making a difference was Tameah Bester, who scored 7 points.
Meanwhile, Picayune came up short against Pass Christian on Tuesday and fell 49-42.
Poplarville's win lifted them to 6-2 while Pearl River Central's defeat dropped them down to 2-4.
Poplarville skirted past Picayune 34-32 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Poplarville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
