Silverado gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They really took it to the Spring Valley Grizzlies for the full four quarters, racking up a 69-40 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Skyhawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Silverado's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Armani Combs, who rushed for 203 yards and a pair of scores on only 15 carries. Combs' longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Clemente Jones also helped out as he racked up 128 rushing yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Silverado was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 395 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spring Valley only rushed for 198 rushing yards.
Silverado didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jonah Alipio and Kiyan Jackson. Alipio got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Spring Valley lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Antwan Osborne, who rushed for 82 yards and one TD on only ten carries, and also threw for 90 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. Spring Valley also got help from Josiah Rivera, who showed off his sure hands for 117 receiving yards.
Spring Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Silverado didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 44-6 victory against Valley on the 5th. As for Spring Valley, they have also already played their next contest, a 28-24 win against Pahrump Valley on the 5th.
