Hurricane has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Lehi Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hurricane has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
Hurricane scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took down Virgin Valley 64-49. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, as Hurricane did.
Hurricane relied on the efforts of Abbigail Stout, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and six assists, and Addison Crandall, who scored 25 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. That makes it six consecutive games in which Crandall has scored at least 25% of Hurricane's points. Another player making a difference was Katen Myers, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lehi didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Payson on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 43-39 win.
Addy Scrivner continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points. The contest was her sixth in a row with at least ten points. Sammie Love was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Hurricane is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Lehi, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's match: Hurricane have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 33.9% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Lehi, though, as they've only drained 30.3% of their threes per game this season. Given Hurricane's sizeable advantage in that area, Lehi will need to find a way to close that gap.
Hurricane suffered a grim 66-42 defeat to Lehi in their previous meeting back in December of 2018. Can Hurricane avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
