Clovis West and Clovis are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2023, but likely not for long. The Golden Eagles will be playing at home against the Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Clovis West turned things around against Buchanan on Friday. They blew past the Bears 14-2. With that win, the Golden Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Preston Lowe was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kobe Castellanos, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Clovis West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Clovis scored the most runs they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of Clovis East by a score of 17-16. Even though they lost, the Cougars' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.3 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Clovis also got a good showing from AJ Gallock, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Gallock has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Dayne Williams stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he got on base in five of his six plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Dalton Byrd, who went 3-for-6 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Clovis' loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Clovis West, the victory got them back to even at 11-11-1.
