Wyoming Indian had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past Niobrara County, posting a 65-28 win on the road. Given Wyoming Indian's advantage in MaxPreps' Wyoming basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Niobrara County is ranked 29th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Niobrara County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rachel Krein. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Krein scored a full 57.1% of Niobrara County's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Wyoming Indian's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Niobrara County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Wyoming Indian will face off against Glenrock at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Niobrara County, they will head out on the road to face off against Rocky Mountain at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Rocky Mountain focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
