The Signal Mountain Eagles will take on The Villages Charter Buffalo in a tournament on Thursday. Signal Mountain is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
On Tuesday, Signal Mountain needed a bit of extra time to put away Hixson. They had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since May 16, 2024.

Bo Cooper made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on John Zimmerman, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Brady Timblin was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Signal Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, The Villages Charter got the win against Chattanooga Central on Wednesday by a conclusive 17-1. The result was nothing new for the Buffalo, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Butts was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other pitching news, Cohen Smith looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
Back at the plate, Torin Foley was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-4. He has become a key player for The Villages Charter: the team is 10-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcello Cortale, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Signal Mountain pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for The Villages Charter, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Signal Mountain has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .474.
