Nativity BVM hasn't had much luck against Williams Valley recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Green Wave will head out on the road to take on the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. Nativity BVM has given up an average of 15.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Nativity BVM came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Shenandoah Valley, falling 17-5.
Anna Jansson and Macie Rushannon did some serious damage despite the final result: Jansson went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI, while Rushannon scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That triple was Jansson's first of the season.
Meanwhile, Williams Valley beat Upper Dauphin Area 5-2 on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won eight in a row.
Sage Smeltz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ella Kobularik, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Williams Valley's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Nativity BVM, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Nativity BVM has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. However, it's not like Williams Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .496. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Nativity BVM might still be hurting after the 17-0 defeat they got from Williams Valley when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Green Wave avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
